Dog Park Amenities
Fencing
Both dog parks are compromised of fenced-in areas which provide dogs and their owners off-leash play and training areas. Please obey the leash laws by keeping dogs on their leashes when entering and exiting the dog park.
Within the dog parks, a separate, fully enclosed section has been designated for the use of small or shy dogs. Upon entering through the main gate, visitors may choose the appropriate area based on their dog’s size and temperament. Please be advised that this area is not intended as a holding or staging space for larger dogs; it is reserved exclusively for the comfort and safety of smaller or more timid animals.
At Fairgrounds Park dog park, the fences have wood frames with wire inserts. The wire inserts are held in place with zip-ties which are meant to break-away in an emergency flooding situation. To report a broken or loose zip-tie, please notify a parks worker or call the Parks & Recreation Department at 970.962.2727 to report the need for repairs.
Water
There is a water fountain available at the entrance of both dog parks. Please note the water is turned off for the winter months by October 13.
Waste Bags
Pet waste bag dispensers are available at both dog parks. Pet owners must pick up and remove pet waste.
Dog Park Rules
For the safety and enjoyment of all park visitors, we kindly ask that you follow all posted rules and regulations as posted within the dog park.
Important Notice: Aggressive dogs are not permitted in the park under any circumstances. For the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, owners are responsible for supervising their dog at all times.
As noted in the Dog Park Rules section of the Rules and Regulations page, food and beverages intended for human consumption are not permitted within the dog park areas. This policy is in place to prevent conflicts or safety issues among dogs. However, please note that dog treats and training rewards are allowed. We kindly ask that you do not offer treats to dogs that are not your own without first obtaining the owner’s explicit permission.
Closures
Occasionally, sections of the dog park may be temporarily closed to allow for routine maintenance, including weed management and pest control. During any treatment involving sprays or chemicals, both dogs and their owners are strictly prohibited from entering the enclosures.
Advance notice of closures will be posted on-site and listed on the Detours & Closures page.
