We are pleased to offer our sales tax customers an online payment option through Citizen Access. Please scroll to the bottom of the page for frequently asked questions.

First Time Users

The City of Loveland Loveland uses ACH debit for all online payments. Some financial institutions have a "debit block" that will not allow ACH debit payments to go through.

Before you apply for a sales tax license or submit your first payment, please contact your bank and provide them with the City of Loveland's Originator ID 1846000609 to ensure your payment will not be rejected.

What is an originator ID?

The originator ID (sometimes called customer number, or client ID) is a unique identifier for organizations and companies that collect payments via ACH debit.
It acts like a unique mailing address for electronic payments, ensuring they reach the correct recipient.
It helps your bank identify the true originator of a transaction, allowing them to block or trace unauthorized withdrawals.
If a company receives an unexpected payment, a bank can use the originator ID to trace the payment and identity the sender.
Customers may see the originator ID reference on their bank statement, which can be used for reconciliation or to identify payments.

What payment method can I use to pay my taxes online?

At this time, ACH debit, is the only payment method. Credit card payments are not accepted.

How do I link my sales tax account to my user profile?

You will need to enter your five digit account number. If your account number is less than five numbers, you will need to enter leading zeros. i.e., 00001.

You must enter the location address exactly as it is written on your sales tax license. Do not include the city, state, or zip code.

I am trying to link my account and keep getting a message that says no accounts found matching the criteria entered.

The location address is likely incorrect. The address cannot be the mailing address, city, state, or zip code, and must match exactly how it's listed on your sales tax license, including abbreviations. i.e., if your address is listed as123 Main St on your license you cannot enter 123 Main Street, it must be entered as 123 Main St

What do I do if I made a mistake on my return?

Returns cannot be amended through the citizen access portal. Amended returns are processed based on the type of correction.

If your amendment results in an overpayment, you will need to go through our Claim for Refund process. The form can be found on our forms page.
If your amendment results in an underpayment, email the corrected return to salestax@cityofloveland.org. Once the correction is processed, you'll be able to pay the balance under outstanding balances.

How do I renew my sales tax license?

Under the tax & licensing menu, select renew license, check the license to renew, and click next. The dates on this first screen show your current license information. If you want to renew your license for 2026, the effective date will be 1/1/2025 and the expiration date will be 12/31/2025. There is no prompt asking if you want to renew for the next year.

Please do not apply for a new sales tax license.

I am trying to renew my license and there is no effective or expiration date.

If you don't see an effective or expiration date, you have a non-physical sales tax license, which does not expire. This license type is valid until revoked or cancelled.
