About the Loveland Police Department
The Loveland Police Department was established in 1881. We serve the City of Loveland, Colorado, located in Larimer County. As a municipal law enforcement agency, we are proud to be a part of this growing community of more than 80,000 residents, thousands of businesses, and countless visitors each year.
Who We Are
Our department consists of nearly 200 dedicated members, including sworn officers, civilian professionals, and committed volunteers. Each member plays a critical role in maintaining public safety, strengthening community relationships, and upholding the highest standards of professional policing.
We operate through four primary divisions:
- Patrol Division
- Criminal Investigations Division
- Support Division
- Office of the Chief
Within these divisions are specialized units such as Communications, Records, Victim Services, Forensics, Professional Standards, and other essential functions. Together, these teams ensure comprehensive service across prevention, response, investigation, and accountability.
Our Mission and Values
Our mission centers on protecting life, safeguarding property, and community engagement. Building trust through service rooted in integrity and professionalism is essential.
We seek justice.
We love kindness.
We walk humbly.
These principles guide our decision-making, our interactions, and our long-term commitment to the community. Service, transparency, accountability, integrity, respect, and excellence are not aspirational phrases. They are operational standards.
Community Commitment
Public safety works best when partnership exists between a department and the community it serves. Whether you are a lifelong resident, new to the area, visiting, or considering making Loveland home, we encourage engagement.
