Celia Turner presents the poetry of Camille Dungy.

Celia Turner is a Loveland-published poet in the Northern Colorado Writers and Columbine Poets annual anthologies and Poetry Potion and a former winner of the Denver Women’s Press Club Unknown Writer’s Contest. She regularly studies poetry and attends readings, workshops and classes. Poetry for her is an ongoing intimate conversation she continues to have with those unmet but not unknown.

Camille T. Dungy was born and raised in the western United States (Colorado and California), though she has lived briefly in most other regions of the U.S. and has spent time on all but one continent and several countries. Dungy attributes some of the energy in her writing to both her delight in going new places and meeting new people and the good fortune of having a beautiful place to root down and call home. In much of her writing, Dungy considers history, landscape, culture, family, and desire. Among Dungy’s honors are fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, Cave Canem, and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. She is also a two-time recipient of the Northern California Book Award, in 2010 and 2011 respectively, and a Silver Medal Winner of the California Book Award. In 2021, she received the Academy of American Poets Fellowship, which recognizes distinguished poetic achievement.

Presented by the Loveland Poet Laureate Program.
